Out of RAM
From Xbox-Linux
Here's my experience - and it's been tested on several XBOXes.
1. Boot [dyne:bolic] for the first time (or whichever time you're doing). 2. Create a nest file - remember - the larger the nest, the longer it takes to make it. It took my xbox about 5 minutes to make a 256mb nest file.
- The benefit to the nest file is that changes to files in /home and /etc are saved and accessible with every boot.
3. Reboot to have [dyne:bolic] mount the nest file. 4. Start up XTerm in X-Windows. 5. Start up your favorite editor, and load "/etc/rc.local" 6. Insert this above the GTK+ profile:
- "umount /vol/hd4"
- "mkswap /dev/hda53 && swapon /dev/hda53"
7. Save file and reboot.
Now, in order to verify the swap partition is working, you can type "swapon -s" in a terminal after reboot.
I know this is probably documented somewhere, but for first-time users, trying to put a load on the CPU will cause most xboxes to lock up and crater if you don't have a swap partition.
