First cluster in root directory

As of FAT32 root directory is no longer fixed-size and can grow when needed. I do not know about shrinking capabilities. If root dir can grow, it probably can be moved around the volume; therefore one must know it's starting cluster. Without it (and without presumption that root dir always comes first and occupies cluster 0) all copies of FAT and rest of filesystem are useless. Szycha 07:32, 27 Apr 2007 (PDT)
