"What is the benefit of having a 1.1 Xbox?"

Comment by 1STAGE on 2004-10-08 - In my experience, a 1.1 Xbox is great because it's been Linux-enabled the longest and has the most "open" of the hardware configurations. It also has a full 1Mb TSOP, giving a slight edge over later models with only a 256Kb TSOP (not that anyone's used the additional 756K much). Also, and this is a minor thing, the Cromwell screen is nicely centered on this version. On my 1.4, it's skewed to the left a bit.

You also don't have to unsolder the LPC holes if you put a chip on it. And you can't break the USB daughterboard

"Yeah, but what are the differences in hardware?"

Comment by 1STAGE on 2004-10-08 - Sorry. I removed this from the main page for clarity. I don't have a full list of differences, but the 1.0 and 1.1 Xbox use a full 1Mb TSOP rather than the 256Kb one in the 1.2 - 1.4 versions.

1.0 has the LPC holes filled in, 1.1 dosn't, 1.0 has a daughterboard and almost always a Thomson DVD drive, 1.1 has either a Thomson or Philips and no daughterboard. Also vers up to 1.3 I think have Conexant encoders, correct me if I'm wrong. New ones have Focus and MS branded encoders that don't have full support in Linux.

Xbox Version in the big v1.4 gap

Hi I have one quick question. The date of manufacture on my XBox falls between the big gap on the table, between: 32/03 to 10/04. Does this mean it is an unknown? Or are all xboxes made during this time 1.4? Thanks, Sam

I have the same problem ^, my xbox is 3******-33305, so it was made 33/03, in china, and production line 3. It is in the huge gap between 32.03 and 10/04. Im hoping this means that it is a 1.4. -Thanks if you can help =P

Sorry if I'm doing this wrong, I am new to this site. I'm trying to determine the version of a X-Box I recently bought. Manufacturing date is 2004-05-10, serial is 6****** 42005. Can anyone help?

I also have the same problem. it's a Green Halo Xbox, made on 02/02/2004 (Week 5 of 2004), SN# 2****** 40506. does anyone else know what version other Green Halo Xboxs are? thx...

Mine is 3******-34105 have i a 1.4 or 1.5?

Same thing here. My Special Edition Halo determined exactly what version these "gap" Xbox units are or do we have a potential situation where there could be multiple versions at work? Thanks!

table versions need update?

I've seen a few different xboxes that have high week numbers for 2004 (as mentioned above). Is there support for products manufactured in weeks 20+ ? Or are they all assumed to be 1.6? Thanks; I'd rather not have to open the box if I would be able to return it and search for another that supports solderless modding.

Ok this is my 1st time here. i checked every possible way to find out what version xbox i have. i found out that it is a version 1.1 b/c i have a Conexant, no FAN on the GPU, and 1 Row of pins. but then again it is said that the 1.0 VERSION has the LPC Holes filled in and the other versions dont but my VERSION 1.1 Also has the LPC holes filled in. So the main question is if my xbox really is a Version 1.1.
